Ghouls and fright all night!
Have fun and be Scary
Every year Halloween comes around and as a tradition, everyone carves out pumpkins to show their love of Halloween. An interesting fact in Ireland, people started to carve demonic faces out of turnips to frighten away Jack’s wandering soul.
“Halloween can be all spooky and scary, but it also can be nice and sweet with the candy and fun memories with friends and family.”
Costumes and Candy
Dressing up is always fun!
All Souls’ Day was celebrated similarly to Samhain, with big bonfires, parades, and dressing up in costumes as saints, angels, and devils. However, the American's celebration of Halloween was a bit different, they would “play parties,” which were public events held to celebrate the harvest. Neighbors would share stories of the dead, tell each other’s fortunes, dance and sing. Also, to belive that Celtics may have appeased the spirits by believing they still walked the Earth was by leaving treats on their doorsteps.
“Everyone can dress up how they want to be and be proud of it.”
How Halloween became a holiday
Happy Halloween or Scary Halloween?
Halloween’s origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago, mostly in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom, and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1. They believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31, they celebrated believing that the ghosts of the dead will return to earth.
“ The past will always be a story to the present.”
